Restorative Yoga for Stressful Times

by

I wanted to write a little bit abound Supported Bound Angle pose, or Hiranya Garbha- Golden Cosmic Womb Restorative pose – as it is also known.

It is a real favourite of mine, a very versatile pose that suits many different people with many different needs.

  • Great for Pregnancy and for Fertility it allows you to rest back into the bolsters in a pose that promotes openness and receptivity, with a lifted heart, soft belly and open wombspace.
  • Great for everyone, especially women as it helps to bring awareness to the heart and wombspace areas of the body which can be enhanced with mudra movements or simply hands resting in these too areas to bring awareness and support to you and the body.
  • Fabulous as a Restorative pose you can do after lunch, the upright supported position supports digestion but also means you can benefit from some rest at the same time.
  • A very supportive all round pose with legs hels by blankets or bolsters/ pillows, back supported, head support….you feel held and supported everywhere, truly like a queen.
  • Very relaxing, you can melt back into your comfy supportive armchair, bolsters and blankets helping to support the nervous system, inviting the body to come into deep rest, bringing more spaciousness into the body and breath and overall more ease
  • Try it for 20 minutes a day

I have put some pictures together to give you a step by step overview with some images……My little man can then be seen relaxing into the bolster supports. Big rolled up blankets or pillows work just as well as bolsters and books can be used instead of blocks. Enjoy!
