Summer, The Mother Of High Energy
“Queen of everything, I am a multi-tasking Superwoman.”
It’s Summer. And we’ve just had the longest day – the Summer Solstice – the peak of the year, the time of the highest energy. You can feel this energy all around you, the sky is blue, the weather is warm and nature is busy.
It’s very much a yang, masculine, doing energy so you’ll feel like getting up and going out to do things. You’ll want to get out of your comfort zone, surge forward and get things done. You’ll feel confident, be able to make decisions with clarity and finish what you started.
You’ll feel like you can take on the world and handle anything. And things will naturally seem to go your way, you’ll be able to make it happen.
Because you’re full of energy, you’ll want to be seen and heard and you’ll feel more extrovert and outgoing.
And it’s the same during the summer phase of your menstrual cycle too, the ovulation phase.
But all this energy can be exhausting and you may lose yourself and get burnt out with too much ‘over do’. You may get so tired and brain foggy that you forget what you want to do and just do bits of everything and you may forget about friends, family and loved ones.
So, it’s important to find balance.
Try to stay grounded and set boundaries for yourself and others using tools to help you like meditation and Yoga Nidra.
Yoga Nidra is a treasure, a conscious deep sleep, bringing calmness, quietness and clarity that invites us to discover the truth of who we really are. It’s the deepest level of meditation resulting in ultimate stillness and relaxation. Yoga Nidra offers you a space to explore what you need in the moment, as well as an opportunity to work on releasing long held fears and emotions.
Why not try one of these free Yoga Nidra practices.
It’s important during the high energy of Summer to take the time to just go with the flow and follow your impulses at a deep sixth sense, gut level, that just knowing that you have to do a certain thing. Ignore the ‘shoulds’ and ‘coulds’ and go wherever your instinct takes you, listen to what your body needs to rest, rejuvenate and nourish.
Calming, restorative practices such as Golden Cosmic Womb are perfect at this time of year for re-energising, resting and relaxing. Try it for 20 minutes a day, it will help you to combat your ‘over do’. And I love Legs Up the Wall pose too when I’m feeling tired. It’s one of the most calming, grounding and nourishing poses and it’s so easy to do wherever you are. If you’re feeling a bit ungrounded with two much energy, try Balancing Breath technique. It’s a lovely technique to balance your mind, body and breath and helps you to centre your energy and the way that you feel.
I always like to make the most of Summer. To me, it’s a family time, a time to be outdoors, a time to enjoy the natural world around us but it’s also a time for rejuvenation, rest and relaxation and the place I most like to be is by the sea watching the hypnotic power of the waves.
