Embracing September: A Time for Reflection, Integration, and New Beginnings
As the warmth of summer begins to fade and we step into September, I’m reminded of the beauty of transition – a theme that has been central to my work since I first began teaching yoga in 2004/ 2005.
Back then, my business was named FluidYoga, inspired by the Lao Tzu quote:
“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.”
This quote beautifully captures the essence of my teachings – the power of softness, fluidity, and adaptability in the face of life’s challenges.
I’ve recently been reflecting on how my work has evolved over the years and I’ve also been exploring the central pillars that have been steadfast in all that I offer and do.
My original logo, the triple spiral, represented the ripples on water and the cyclical nature of life – birth, death, and rebirth, a symbol deeply rooted in Celtic spirituality. It served as a reminder of the ongoing cycles of change and transformation, and the lessons that each stage of life brings.
As my practice evolved, focusing more on women’s health, wellness, and the fluid feminine movement, my logo and colors began to shift as well. The chakras most impacted by this work – the root, pelvis, and heart – were reflected in the new colors: red, orange, and green. The triple spiral was also flipped upside down to resemble the yoni, a sacred symbol of feminine power and creativity.
In recent years, my connection to the earth has deepened, and this has been reflected in the colors I now use: the deep red of the earth, the blue of water, and the rich red of menstrual blood. These colours symbolise our connection to our own cyclical wisdom and the cycles of the earth, reminding us that body and earth are one.
Through all these changes, the triple spiral remains at the core of my work, representing the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. This is what my work and allwoman is about – supporting women through their own transformations, whether it’s after having a baby, navigating the shifts of womanhood, or facing change and loss. My work is about helping women become midwives of transformation, threshold doulas for change, and keepers of their own inner fire.
As we move into this new season, I encourage you to take time to reflect on your own journey.
What cycles have you moved through this year? What new beginnings are calling you?
And as you ponder these questions, I invite you to stay connected with me and the allwoman community.
