Online Teacher Training FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR TRAINING

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE TAKE?

The Postnatal/Mum & Baby Yoga and Fertility online course must be completed 6 months from the date of enrolment. The Pregnancy Yoga online course must be completed 9 months from the date of enrolment. It is possible to complete the course in less time; it entirely depends upon your personal circumstances, the amount of time you have available to study and your work and family commitments. We find that students are able to complete the course steadily in the allocated timeframe with approximately 5 hours of study per week, but many students are able to complete the course more rapidly if they have additional time to devote to study. We realise that sometimes life intervenes with exceptional circumstances, so an extension will usually be granted on request however we levy a fee of £100 (€100, $100) to extend the completion period.

CAN I TAKE THE COURSE WHILST I’M PREGNANT OR JUST HAD A BABY? WHAT ABOUT MY DAY JOB?

Definitely!! Many of our students enrol on this course during or just after pregnancy and find it’s the perfect time to study how to teach pregnancy, postnatal or fertility yoga. After having a baby some ladies find that they reconsider their career options. Teaching fertility, pregnancy, postnatal and baby yoga offers a flexible and rewarding career which is possible to fit round other work and family commitments.

WHO WILL BE MY TUTOR?

Please see the individual courses for the tutor details. If in doubt, please do ask.

WHAT DOES THE COURSE CONSIST OF?

When you purchase the course, you will receive access to your study materials so you are able to get started right away. The Pregnancy course consists of 6 fully illustrated modules plus details of the required assignments, submission guidelines and marking criteria. The Postnatal and Fertility course consists of 3 fully illustrated modules plus details of the required assignments, submission guidelines and marking criteria. The course material also contains recommended reading suggestions and video material. We recommend the purchase of some textbooks, and most students enjoy purchasing a few, however the course is entirely self-contained and covers everything you need to complete your study and become a Fertility / Pregnancy or Postnatal / Mum & Baby Yoga Teacher.

WHAT ASSIGNMENTS DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?

In order to successfully complete the course, you will need to submit the 4-question assignment at the end of each module to your tutor as a word document via email. You are given clear guidance for submission plus our marking criteria as part of the course materials. The great benefit of our online course is that by completing the assignments, you will create all the marketing and promotional materials you need to advertise your new classes plus the lesson plans you require to teach them. You can ask for support or guidance from us at any time during the course via email, telephone or video chat so it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, we are always on hand to help.

WHAT IF I NEED ADDITIONAL HELP OR GUIDANCE?

If you have any queries about any aspect of the course at any time during your studies you can contact us via email, Skype or FaceTime. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, you will be able to access this support. Rest assured that many students have successfully completed the course and gone on to become fantastic and inspirational Fertility, Pregnancy and Postnatal and Mum & Baby Yoga Teachers.

WHAT ABOUT TEACHING PRACTICE AND OBSERVATION?

As part of your course you are required to provide evidence of teaching and feedback. We also highly recommend that all students observe and assist in class where possible, and we ask for appraisals on what you’ve learnt.

WILL I MAKE MY MONEY BACK?

Our online course represents excellent value for money and a truly affordable route to becoming a Fertility, Yoga, Pregnancy or Postnatal & Baby Yoga Teacher. We understand that this requires an investment from you and we want to ensure that you receive value and can recoup this investment from your Yoga Classes. Our course is carefully designed to give you the knowledge you need to start teaching your classes soon after completing the course. Therefore, we do believe that you will be able to earn back the costs of this course within a few months of starting your teaching with a minimum of 1 weekly class.

I’M MALE – CAN I ENROL?

Yes, all we require from you is a keen interest in yoga and a passion for passing this on to your students.

I’M NOT A YOGA TEACHER, NOR DO I HAVE MUCH YOGA EXPERIENCE – CAN I ENROL?

We believe that an interest in yoga is more important that hours of experience on a yoga mat, we also believe that yoga teacher training is a journey and we all have to start somewhere. If you’ve always wanted to teach Fertility, Pregnancy or Postnatal and/or Mum & Baby yoga but you don’t have much experience then we encourage you to contact us before enrolling, via the Contact us page. We can then speak to you in person to assess your suitability for the course.

I AM A MIDWIFE OR DOULA INVOLVED IN ACTIVE BIRTH – CAN I ENROL?

Midwives are particularly welcome, as they have so much to offer women. If you have a committed yoga practice, and have been attending classes for at least 18 months, you are automatically eligible for enrolment on our courses. Training in fertility, pregnancy or postnatal yoga will add a highly marketable skill to your teaching repertoire. If you already have a committed yoga practice, and have been attending classes for at least 18 months, you are automatically eligible for enrolment on the course. WHO IS SUITABLE FOR OUR ONLINE COURSES?

Our online yoga teacher training courses are suitable for yoga teachers, personal trainers, midwives, childbirth educators, doulas, alternative health practitioners, fitness professionals, NCT teachers and healthcare professionals with a strong interest in yoga. Completion of a 200-hour yoga teacher-training program or its equivalent prior to taking this course is not a prerequisite as we understand that many of our students are only interested in learning to teach Fertility, Pregnancy or Postnatal / Mum & Baby Yoga. However, for insurance reasons we advise that you contact us before enrolling, via the contact us page. We can then speak to you in person to assess your suitability for the course. Teaching yoga requires specialist knowledge. It is inadvisable to teach students without this knowledge.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Our online yoga training represents one of the most affordable routes to becoming a yoga teacher. Please see the online course pages for the cost of our courses. Aside from the cost of the course, the only additional optional cost would be to purchase one or two books from the recommended reading list you are sent as part of the course.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) AND CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE)

CPD/CE is an important aspect of a yoga teacher’s lifelong journey. This course can provide CPD/CE credits, depending upon which Yoga registration body you are registered with. For example, if you are registered with Yoga Alliance US, you can make a note of the hours you spend studying for your certificate, and count this as part of your ‘non-contact CE’ requirement. As there are many different registration bodies, all with differing requirements, we would advise you to check how to record and credit your study hours.

ENGLISH IS NOT MY 1ST LANGUAGE – CAN I STILL TAKE THE COURSE?

If your English comprehension is at an upper intermediate or advanced level, you will be able to understand the course material. Test papers are marked according to content, not English grammar. If your written English has mistakes that cause misunderstanding, then your level isn’t high enough.

WHO ARE ‘ACCREDITATION’ BODIES AND ARE YOU ACCREDITED?

Our founder Lara Heppell is a registered Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals. This accreditation demonstrates excellent standards in teaching as set by Yoga Alliance Professionals and has accredited her to lead Foundation Teacher Training Courses, Vocational Training Courses and Workshops, plus advanced training courses and specialised workshops.

We are a little sceptical of associating allwoman too closely with an accreditation body, as we are required to provide them with a fee then they will require your contact details to encourage you to pay them a fee to give us a both a badge and say we are both ‘good enough’. Here at allwoman we prefer to set our own high standards and rely on detailed feedback from our students who are now out there teaching dedicated classes as a result of our training.

This course can provide CPD/CE credits, depending upon which Yoga registration body you are registered with. For example, if you are registered with Yoga Alliance US, you can make a note of the hours you spend studying for this diploma, and count this as part of your ‘non-contact CE’ requirement. However as there are many different registration bodies, all with differing requirements, we would advise you to check how to record and credit your personal study hours.
