Seasonal Workshops

Allwoman Seasonal Workshops

Inspired by the Celtic Wheel of the Year, I love the different seasons of nature and the different gifts each one brings.

Over time I’ve integrated rituals, practices and lifestyle shifts that recognise these cyclical movements of nature into the Yoga I practice, the Yoga I teach, and the way I live my life.

allwoman seasonal workshops offer you the chance to pause, reflect and renew at key times during the year, to take stock and give thanks – something we don’t often do in our busy lives.

We have the Solar Festivals – Winter Solstice, Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox – that mark seasonal changes caused by the sun when big shifts happen in terms of cyclical change.

I view Winter and Summer as the main seasonal shifts we experience, with Autumn and Spring being transition phases. Just like during our monthly cycle when we move from menstruation through to ovulation with the transition phases in between.

Then we have the Fire Festivals – Imbolc, Beltane, Lammas and Samhain – which represent turning points that were celebrated as agricultural festivals by our ancestors.

The Festivals of the Celtic Wheel of the Year represent the more active and the dormant phases of nature. They are when we should plant, sow or reap. I like to play with this model through movement and yogic practices that honour these times in the year and our lives.

All allwoman seasonal workshops are Well Woman (Womb) Yoga focused, working with our Shakti feminine energy that connects us deeply with the Earth’s natural cycles. The practices we do during each season reflect the inner expression of the outward season. By practicing Yoga in this way, we can connect more deeply to the natural ebbs and flows of energy we experience both personally through seasonal shifts and collectively through nature.

Our seasonal workshops are for women of all ages and stages of life and for all abilities from beginners to the more experienced.

The Yoga itself is both nourishing and accessible, with different pose options being given where relevant so you can choose the poses that feel best for your own body and energy level on the day. We will also use props where needed so everyone feels comfortable. It is not a one size fits all.

BOOK YOUR PLACE AT YOGA KULA, LEEDS.

Get a spring back into your step with this revitalising Spring Revival workshop focusing on re-energising the body and mind after the more dormant season of Winter.

Recognising the shift in energy that Spring brings, we will work with a series of poses to energise and liberate the body, drawing our attention back out into the world and encouraging it to open up and flower into Spring.

Working from the feet up, we will reawaken the body, building inner energy, fire and strength through our exploration of the ‘complete liberation of energy series’ (purna pavanamuktasana), some transformative twists and grounding and opening standing sequences to connect us to the Earth.

At the end of the session, we will use some lovely restorative back bends to reawaken and expand the heart, calm the mind and invite the body to come into deep stillness and rest.

Bring your mum along for a special treat. There will be yummy chocolate and other delicious non-sugary treats when we finish our session, as well as some essential oils to revitalise and recharge your senses.

About the workshop

Beltane is a May Day celebration of the potency of the Earth and the forces of nature. It marks the beginning of the most active part of the year and the transition towards Summer. It is a time to celebrate our sexuality and fertility.

During this workshop, we will explore themes around expansion and opening, working into poses that are more active and allow us to fully blossom with the increasing energy we feel around us.

This workshop will be playful, joyful, sensual and feminine as we move into the fullness and high energy of Summer.

To ensure we don’t get too overpowered by Yang energy, we will finish with a long deep guided Yoga Nidra relaxation to cool us down and soothe the body, mind and soul.

About the workshop

Summer Solstice on the 21st June represents the height of Summer, Midsummer, when we experience both the longest day and shortest night.

Solstice means ‘standing in the sun’. With this workshop being held a few days before the Summer Solstice, it gives us a chance to do just that – to stop, pause and reflect on our journey since the Winter Solstice. It gives us the chance to enjoy some being time at the midpoint in our annual cycle before we start to head towards the darker half of the year, moving into Autumn and then Winter over the coming six months.

As we reflect on our own unique journeys, we will also focus on developing our inner awareness and self-love as we share, reflect, move, rest and look ahead to the second part of the year.

We will play with breathing techniques, feminine postures (from supine to standing), rhythmic fluid sequences and still restorative poses to open and honour the Heart and Swadisthana (womb) chakra energies, liberating and revitalising both body and mind

This is a very balanced Yin and Yang workshop that will embrace the energy of the Sun before inviting the body to rest deeply and just be.

Tea, cake and open heartedness will also be available.

Lammas Personal Harvest Practice Well Woman Womb Yoga Workshop

Yoga Kula, Leeds

About the workshop

Lammas is a festival that celebrates the first fruits of harvest. It is a time of thanksgiving and gratitude for the fruits that have grown and ripened from our labours; from seeds and desires sown and planted at the start of the year.

Now is the time of harvest, with the sun shining and energy still high. It’s a time to celebrate being fully in our power and being grateful for the fruits that Summer brings.

During this workshop, we will celebrate the abundance of life, looking at our own harvest and our own achievements and asking ourselves what we might need to cut back, prune or cut away to create more space for the things that we want to nurture further for ourselves in the coming months.

It is also a time to remind ourselves of the importance of self-care, self-love and nurture and to spend some time nurturing and nourishing ourselves and our bodies so we feel alive, healthy, rich, juicy and abundant as the Earth does in the harvest season too.

We will play with breathing techniques, feminine postures (from supine to standing), rhythmic fluid sequences and still restorative poses to celebrate the Earth, fire and water elements within us. We’ll combine challenge with flow, bringing inner strength and grounding with ease, as we move mindfully with the breath and inner awareness to open up space within the body, liberating and revitalising the body and mind

We will finish with a long deep Yoga Nidra practice focused on the Earth, giving thanks for the fruits she brings.

This is a very balanced Yin and Yang workshop that will embrace the energy of the Sun and invite the body to rest deeply and just be.

Tea, treats, lovely essential oil smells and plenty of smiles will also be available.

About the workshop

“A WOMAN IN HARMONY WITH HER SPIRIT IS LIKE A RIVER FLOWING.”

-MAYA ANGELOU

At the Autumn Equinox on 23rd September, there is a shift of emphasis from outward achievement (Yang qualities) to inner reflection (Yin qualities) and contemplation. Sometimes we struggle to adjust at the change of the seasons and this can unbalance us, especially in Autumn when Vata energy (air) runs high.

This Autumn Embrace workshop has been designed to hold us in a loving embrace as we take time out of our busy lives to be with other women to breathe, relax, nurture, ground and balance ourselves with the vital practices of Well Woman Yoga, inviting some much needed space and time for renewal and ensuring our energies can be restored and refocused for the rest of the year ahead.

This lazy Sunday morning workshop will help ease us into Autumn by inviting us to slow down, reflect and welcome the blessings for the rest of the year.

There will be treats afterwards, revitalising essential oils to try and plenty of props to make your own pillow paradise to nest in for the deep relaxation at the end.

About the workshop

This special Samhain (pronounced Sow-en) Candlelight Workshop will celebrate a time honoured by our ancestors, long before Halloween. A time half way between the Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice that marks the end of harvest time ahead of welcoming in the darker winter months.

It’s a time for thanksgiving, of death and rebirth; a time to reflect, give thanks, recharge and renew.

During this workshop, we will combine carefully crafted flowing asana and breath work with deep restorative poses to unwind the body (from the inside out), release deep rooted tensions, relax the mind and invite us to fully let go.

It will provide us with a welcoming space in which to take some time out of our busy lives to be with other women to breathe, relax, nurture, ground and balance ourselves with the vital practices of Well Woman Womb Yoga.

Delicious treats, revitalising essential oils and warm chai and chat will all be on offer too.

About the workshop

This workshop is a chance to escape from the busyness of Christmas planning and reconnect, reflect and recharge ahead of the Christmas festivities. It’s all about taking time out for self-connection and self-compassion and birthing new ideas and visions for the future.

Join us as we celebrate the Winter Solstice, a time where we mark the end of hibernation and the return of the Sun.

This special Winter Solstice workshop is an invitation to pause and reflect on our journeys since the Summer Solstice. It’s a time to acknowledge what we’ve completed and the insights we’ve gained along the way.

This workshop combines carefully crafted Yoga sequences and breathing techniques that will get us out of our heads and into our bodies through a blend of balancing breathing techniques, gentle rhythmic movements, flowing sequences and restful Yoga poses coupled with Mudra, Mantra and Sound. The whole experience will support us to feel more grounded in our bodies, more balanced, relaxed, calm and at ease.

It is a good time ahead of the Christmas celebrations to think about our own visions and dreams and to make some ‘Solstice resolutions’, which when planted now can be given some love, attention and space in which to grow, in conjunction with the increasing light as we move towards Spring.

There will be treats to awaken the senses, such as gorgeous chocolate treats, essential oils, warming tea and comfy blankets.

There’s no need to bring lunch, but have a big breakfast/brunch before you come. And bring an extra blanket or cushion if you want to get super cosy.
